There are literally hundreds of hospitals and surgeons in Thailand.

For our families and for our clients we will only use

  • A TIER 1 Hospital

(NOT a clinic where in the case of an issue you are taken to a hospital) and we strongly recommend this is your consideration.

Medical Tourisim Australia has grown signfcantly over the years with many companys makng offers. If you want the same as Australian Plastic Surgery and in Thailand you should only use one of the TIER 1 Hospitals.

Thailand's Tier 1 Hospitals

The better Thai surgeons want to work in the better hospitals and the better hospitals want the better surgeons – Probably no different from home !

ie: the best surgeon at home will not be found in a little clinic or a secondary class hospital. The surgeon will command better facilities and conditions that are found in the best hospitals.

Joint Commission International (JCI) **

is an organisation that stands as a consistent beacon for patient safety and quality improvement in the global community. The mission of JCI is to continuously improve the safety and quality of care in the international community through the provision of education and advisory services and international accreditation and certification.

JCI, with a presence in more than 90 countries, works with Thai health care organizations to promote rigorous standards of care and provide solutions for achieving peak performance. JCI helps Thailand hospitals in three ways: accreditation, education, and advisory services.

JCI Accreditation is a hospital accreditation NOT surgeon’ abilities.

JCI accreditation should be your starting point and a MINIMUM requirement when considering your surgery but this is far far far from being your only consideration.

LASIK IS AN ACRONYM FOR Laser Insitu Keratomileusis

Specialized excimer lasers can reshape your cornea and can correct any refractive errors and can correct the shape of your cornea and can correct myopia (near sightedness) and can correct hyperopia (farsightedness) and can also correct astigmatism.

Excimer lasers have revolutionized the field of laser eye surgery and over the decades have greatly increased the safety, efficacy and predictability of corneal refractive surgery. The lasers can removemicroscopic amounts of tissue with a very, very high degree of accuracy and without damaging the corneal tissue.

THE NEW LASER SURGERY FOR OVER 40’S

When we age the lenses inside our eyes begin to lose the ability to change shape that is required to focus on near and far objects, a condition call Presbyopia. Thanks to Lasers like the Zeiss MEL-80 there can be compensations for the symptoms of presbyopia with Laser Blended Vision, which enables doctors to restore ‘multiple – focus’ ability, correcting long and short-sightendss and enhancing reading vision The Laser Blended Vision Treatment adjusts each eye in different ways, offering patients freedom from bifocal reading glasses and contact lenses

How do I know if I am a candidate for LASIK Surgery in Thailand?

In order to determine if you are eligible for laser surgery, you must have a consultation AND THIS IS RECOMMENDED BEFORE YOU TRAVEL TO THAILAND

Patient inclusion criteria for LASIK investigation:

  • Up to 12.00 D myopia
  • Up to 5.00 D hyperopia
  • 6.0 D or less of astigmatism
  • Minimum age: 18
  • Maximum age: 65
  • No systemic disease affecting outcome

What To Consider When Comparing Different LASIK Lasers

Several types of Eye Lasers are available in Thailand and it not a case that one particular laser is "better" than another. Your surgeon will review your particular case and advise the best and most suitable excimer for you. eg: degree of refractive error, the size of your pupils and the thickness of your cornea.

Whilst the surgeon's choice of particular laser is critical the expeinse and your surgeon's skill will cause excellent outcome.

What are Typical Costs Approximate prices are:

Lasik Procedures Cost Estimate

V-Max Femto LASIK approx - 103,500 baht approx - $3,450
M-Max LASIK approx - 61,500 baht approx - $2,050
P-Max PRK approx - 55,500 baht approx - $1,850

FemtoLASIK (All-Laser LASIK)

The advanced bladeless FemtoLASIK (All-Laser LASIK) used by the surgeons utilizes the latest generation of specialized ultrafast, femtosecond lasers, which were designed for the creation of corneal flaps during the LASIK procedure. The FemtoLASIK uses the Carl Zeiss (Germany) machine to create a corneal flap with a precisely predetermined pattern and depth that were once considered unattainable for people with corneas too thin, flat, steep or irregular in shape. Once the corneal flap is made, the Carl Zeiss MEL 80 excimer laser is used to provide wavefront correction which will give patients the clear vision without glasses. The advanced technology of the Carl Zeiss VisuMax femtosecond laser allows for a smoother flap interface, and its patented curved contact surface increases patient comfort by inducing minimal pressure on the cornea.

The advanced laser design makes the correction of vision defects even safer and more patient-friendly, FemtoLASIK technology delivers a fast, safe and comfortable LASIK procedure while reducing the amount of thermal energy delivered to the cornea with excellent treatment results.

It is a same-day procedure and patients return home immediately afterwards.

M-Max LASIK is microkeratome blade-LASIK

is an opertion that corrects farsightedness and nearsightedness and astigmatism by makig a corneal flap. The laser corrects the exposed middle layer of the cornea before the flpa is replaced.

P-Max PRK

PRK (photorefractive keratectomy), also known as 'surface ablation', was the first type of laser eye surgery for vision correction. This surgery commenced in the eighties and still today provides excellent outcomes however with the introduction of Lasik surgery it became less common. Whilst there are some recovery benefits with Lasik there are also some benefits in using PRK

The main difference from LASIK is that the top layer of cells that cover the surface of the cornea is removed and a bandage contact lens applied so no flap is created.

The primary advantages of LASIK over PRK is that there is little or no discomfort or pain immediately following the procedure, and vision returns more rapidly, usually within hours rather than days.

Typical Thailand Treatment Plan

First day : The eye examination (approx $60 )

Second day : Lasik Surgery

Third day : Follow up after 1 day surgery

Fifth day : Follow up after 3 days surgery

Seventh day : Follow up before you go back to your country.

Most Unfortunately, aside from hair transplantation surgery, there isn’t any other permanent hair loss cure

Many offer their pills and potions guaranteeing an effective Hair loss treatment.

Upon initially taking medication many patients have told us of their hope for hair restoration but………..there is NO Cure for baldness. The ONLY effective Hair loss treatment is Hair replacement.

Is Hair Replacement in Thailand Safe?

Hair transplantation surgery in Thailand is one of the least intrusive Thailand surgeries. Hair transplantation does not require hospitalisation and is usually a partial day procedure. If you are really rushed for time we have seen patients leave Thailand at the end of day 3 of their stay however we suggest that you stay at least 5 days so that stiches can be removed before travelling home.

‘TECHNICAL STUFF'

Baldness is the loss of hair growth. The type of hair baldness varies but its most common cause is androgenic alopecia, alopecia seborrheica, alopecia androgenetica.

Baldness or Hair loss is technically known as alopecia and this is a loss of hair from the head or body. Androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness(MPB) is responsible for the vast majority of hair loss in men.

Typically and in about 95% of cases baldness is caused by alopecia areata, an autoimmune disorder. Male pattern hair loss is known as androgenic alopecia and is characterized by hair receding from the sides of your forehead and also a thinning crown. Both hair loss types become more and more evident and eventually you are left with a only hair around the back of the head. Alopecia is sometimes called spot baldness.

What happens during your Thailand Hair Surgery?

Thailand Hair transplant procedures usually take over half a day and are performed using local or "twilight" anesthesia, on an out-patient basis. Naturally the number of grafts required depends on the degree of hair loss and desired density. During the surgery there is typically little or no pain. In fact, most patients remain awake and can talk, listen to music or could even watch movies and television.

Hair transplantation involves the removal of the skin and hair follicle. The donation hair can typically be removed from the side and most commonly from the back of your head.

After the hair is obtained the surgeon, using particularly strong magnification, will dissect the harvested tissue ready for implanting. Then a tedious process occurs with the planting of the grafts into your balding area whilst being very, very careful not to damadge any hair follicles already in the treatment area. The surgeon will place grafts on the same angle as your exisitng hair and continue to plant grafts to the level of required density.

How Will I Look after my Hair Surgery Thailand ?

Most people are worried how they will look after the surgery. Often, a light bandage/dressing will be placed on the scalp in order to keep the grafts snug and secure overnight. In most cases, it is removed the next day. After surgery you have to put on the headband (look like tennis band) for a few days to protect the swelling on your forehead. Most patients resume normal activities, such as work, in a couple of days. The hair can be cleaned gently with a special shampoo, and after your first shower, no further bandages are required.

How Long Before I see My new Hair?

The transplanted hair seen above the scalp will be initially shed; however, the roots will remain dormant for approximately 6-12 weeks, after which the new hairs will begin to grow. After a period of four to six months, transplanted hair blends perfectly with the surrounding scalp

How Long Does Transplanted Hair Last?

The transplanted hair can continue to grow for a lifetime !!!! Hair transplant surgery be can combined with other procedures Our service ensures we schedule all required surgeries approrpriately. It is very common for us to arrange more than one procedure during a single trip. For example tummy liposuction and hair graft.

Obviously some operations clash and not all surgeries can be combined on the same trip eg: dental surgery and face surgery
